THE BELL BOTTOM BLUES

Clapton Tribute Band

Location: Tim McLoone's Supper Club, 1200 Ocean Avenue, Asbury Park, NJ
The Bell Bottom Blues was formed in 2007 by a group of New Jersey musicians with the vision of providing an audience with a True Eric Clapton Experience. The band has been carefully constructed to create the essence of the Clapton sound, from his guitar arrangements to his distinctive vocal sound. This is what separates The Bell Bottom Blues from all others. Our audiences and fans tell us that "they close their eyes during a show and swear that they are actually at a Clapton concert." This is what we set out to achieve. Through each band member's dedication, professionalism and hard work we have captured the sound and essence of the Master himself through his various stages, from Cream and Derek & The Dominoes to his solo career. We have captured his guitar styling and more importantly his exact vocal sound, which allows us to pay authentic musical homage to this Rock and Blues Icon. There is no better satisfaction for us than watching our audience respond. Some of the nationally recognized venues that we have played are, Iridium NYC, BB Kings NYC, Havana's PA, New Hope Winery PA, Daryl's House, Infinity Theater Ct, Downtown Cabaret Ct, Grand Casino, Harahs, Empire City, Resorts and Foxwoods to name a few.

Steve Forbert

Location: Tim McLoone's Supper Club, 1200 Ocean Avenue, Asbury Park, NJ
"Compromised" is singer-songwriter Steve Forbert's newest release and from the comparative essay of the disc's title song, (complete with catchy chorus and signature harmonica solo), to the exasperated advice for "everyman" on the album closer, "Whatever, Man," Steve Forbert leaves no stone unturned in his exploration of life, love, turmoil and survival.

After years with local bands, Steve Forbert left his hometown of Meridian, Mississippi in his early 20s and headed for the Big Apple in search of recording deals and larger audiences. He started out playing for change at Grand Central Station and hitting every open mic night he could before eventually moving into the club scene at infamous spots like New York City's CBGB's. At a time when rootsy rock was fading in favor of punk edged bands such as the Ramones, Talking Heads, and Blondie, Forbert's folk pop "Romeo's Tune" hit #11 on the charts and brought him into the international spotlight. Critics and the public embraced his melodic and lyrical styles, a more traditional sound among the post disco punk and rock of the late '70s and early '80s. Always following his own instincts, Forbert says, "I've never been interested in changing what I do to fit popular style and needs." And that's the motto he has lived by since the release of his debut album, Alive on Arrival, in 1978. Rolling Stone contributing editor David Wild recently wrote that "now or then, you would have been hard pressed to find a debut effort that was simultaneously as fresh and accomplished as Alive on Arrival. It was like a great novel by a young author who somehow managed to split the difference between Mark Twain and J.D. Salinger."

Royal Scam - A Steely Dan Tribute

Location: Tim McLoone's Supper Club, 1200 Ocean Avenue, Asbury Park, NJ
It is no secret that the music of Steely Dan is probably the most original, complex, and interesting music of our time. Since April of 1994, The Royal Scam, the world's premier Steely Dan tribute band, has been performing in some of the most respected jazz clubs, showcase rooms, and festivals, and receiving rave reviews. They have developed a following from Maine to Virginia and continue to gather new fans with each and every performance. The Royal Scam has helped to keep the compositions of Donald Fagen and Walter Becker, the spirit of rock/jazz, and the enthusiasm of fine musicianship alive and well in the NY metropolitan area.

Jazz, R&B, Latin, and Pop are among the major elements which make up Steely Dan's music. All of the many musicians who work with the Royal Scam have played most of these various styles and have contributed some very memorable musical moments for the band. The Royal Scam takes pride in performing note-for-note renditions of Steely Dan's music and spends a great deal of attention to the vocals. In March of 1996, The Royal Scam was featured in a Star Ledger article dedicated to top tribute bands and has appeared on the cover of Steppin' Out Magazine. They have also appeared on The Jersey Spotlight television show and have done countless interviews for various radio stations and newspapers throughout the tri-state area. The band was also named one of the top NJ tribute bands in NJ Monthly. The Royal Scam has made appearances at the China Club, The Shell Theater at Trump Marina, The Berks Jazz Fest, Scranton Jazz Fest, Kenny's Castaways, The Bitter End, Club Bene, The Rock and Roll Cafe, Essex County Summer Concert Series, Trumpets Jazz Club, Stephen's Talk House in the Hamptons, Musikfest and a host of other venues and clubs which feature classic rock, or tribute shows. Adrian Legg

Location: Tim McLoone's Supper Club, 1200 Ocean Avenue, Asbury Park, NJ
Adrian Legg is an English guitar player who has been called "impossible to categorize". He plays custom guitars that are a hybrid of electric and acoustic, and his fingerstyle picking technique has been acknowledged by the readers of Guitar Player who voted Legg the "best acoustic fingerstyle" player four years in a row. From his early start as a bench technician customising electric guitars, Legg moved into guitar instruction, publishing books and videos on guitar technique. In 1996 and 1997, Legg shared the stage with acclaimed guitar experts Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson and Steve Vai as part of the G3 tour. Vai called Legg "Uncle Adrian" and Satriani said of Legg's musicianship "He's simply the best acoustic guitar player I've ever heard. I don't know anyone else who can create such a cascade of beautiful notes... Adrian plays like he's got hammers for fingers."

Starting to gig as a solo artist in the mid 1970s, Legg won a Guitar magazine solo acoustic competition in both the composition and performance categories, and began writing articles for that magazine and other publications. He released his first of five albums in Britain in 1976. Soon after he began working for Rose Morris & Company's musical instrument and equipment store doing guitar repairs, quality control and manufacturer contact. That led to collaborations with numerous guitar makers, amplifier and pickup manufacturers as well as guitar clinics and product demonstrations at musical instrument and equipment shows in Britain, Europe and later America and Japan. His compositions began being used by English radio and TV programs, and even London's Ballet Rambert.

With his 1990 American recording debut, Legg found even greater success as a regularly touring solo act, headlining and sharing bills with fellow guitarists Richard Thompson, David Lindley, Eric Johnson (whose 2005 album Bloom Legg plays on) and Joe Satriani (on both his own shows and as part of his G3 Tour package with Johnson and Steve Vai. Guitar Player named his records Guitar for Mortals and Mrs. Crowe's Blue Waltz as Best Acoustic Album (1992 & '93) and Wine, Women & Waltz as Best Overall Guitar Album (1994) in its annual readers' polls. He even has three instructional videos on the U.S. market as well as two books.

Throughout his career, he has earned the highest praise from the media. "Legg is, above all, a guitarist of great power, invention and versatility," observes the St. Petersburg Times. "Through fast-fingered picking, spontaneously layering parts and occasional ringing harmonics, he sounds like an orchestra." Guitar Player heralds how he "combines a sublime melodic sense with a mighty right-hand groove, creating pretty music with rhythmically aggressive undercurrents," while Acoustic Guitar notes that "the guitar is the most versatile instrument in the world, and nobody demonstrates this better than Adrian Legg." For Legg, the essence of his creativity is in live performance. "Playing live is the whole point. Everyone makes a journey, an effort; we all come together - me, the audience, the people who run the venue - to share this wonderful, universal, human emotional interaction. This is where music lives."

Described by Audio magazine as a "kind of cross between Robert Fripp and Garrison Keillor," Legg is a genuine entertainer who excels at not only painting pictures and telling stories with music but also wittily regaling his audiences with tales from his life and travels and his cogent, oblique yet thought provoking observations on a spectrum of topics. It's all part of his dedication to making his performances a full-blooded emotional experience. So it's no wonder that popular BBC radio personality Andy Kershaw says of Legg, "Quite simply, there is no one else like him," citing his "dazzling technique and equally large dollops of spirit, humor, passion, eclecticism and spontaneity." The results of that approach are simply irresistible and unforgettable.
